2.0 TFSI question

Hi guys,

My apologies is this question has been asked already.

I'm currently going through the breaking in stage for my engine, I've got about 1100 miles on it so far. I've noticed when I accelerate with the music on mute I can hear a kind of tinny or maybe whistle sound.

No engine management lights on.

Is this just a normal characteristic of the engine?

Does the sound go away when you turn the MMI off? Mine doesn't make that noise.

I have not tried it with the MMI completely off, but could give it a try.

It's a little difficult to describe it sounds like a light whistle sound/or slight fast rattle. At times I have noticed it disappear when over 2000 RPM.

Do you think it may just be part of the engine break in period?

I don't hear it on mine either. I wonder if the sound that you hear might be from an issue with the sound actuator (soundaktor) which adds extra exhaust sound into the cabin.

Hmm it's a possibility, do you think if it is the sound actuator it will be something that will break in like the engine.

Other then that low sound the cars driving fine power seems ok too.

It shouldn't change with the break in. I'm thinking perhaps its a grounding issue. I'd probably recommend talking to a service advisor and not waiting.
