the hood lift support finally went out. it had grease on the rod and tube section.
plus it wouldn't keep the hood up any longer.
the aftermarket version was a perfect fit.
the price is about $30 plus tax.
bought mine from orielly auto parts.
just pop out the metal clips on both ends.
be sure to have someone support the hood while you do this. the supports will pop out with a very small flat head screwdriver.
once you get the clips out. the hood can hit your head or hands as it slams down. so a second person would make it safer.
pop in the new one with just your hand (open-handed). no tools for this is needed. it doesn't take much effort to attach it. using a simple slapping motion, open-handed over each connection point.
